Surgery...Before and After

On Tuesday, September 8th, Talia had spinal surgery to correct her congenital scoliosis. She had surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The doctors took her back for surgery about 7:45 am. Here she is before the surgery with her stuffed giraffe Geraldine.

The surgery was completed around 3:30 pm. TJ was put in a sitting cast from her chest to her knees. The nurses were impressed with how strong TJ was and said she did not want anyone even looking at her, let alone touching her. Here she is just after the surgery.

She stayed in the hospital until Friday. She also got a wheelchair on Thursday and was able to get up and about a little.

We all came home on Friday afternoon. We got a little rest, then on Saturday, MeMe, PawPaw, and Uncle Turd came for a visit. PawPaw even polished Talia's nails.

Sunday, Halmoni came for a week long visit. She is helping keep Max entertained while we are unable to get out and about.

So, this is the short version of all that has gone on. TJ did wonderfully well during and after surgery. She will be in a cast and participate in home bound schooling for 6 weeks. At the 6 week mark she will get her cast taken off and new x-rays. Then, she should be able to go back to school.

Thanks for all the prayers, support, and wonderful gifts. We love you all.

Such a brave little girl. I hope her recovery at home is going well.
