It's been a busy couple of weeks.
Talia's 2nd surgery went very well. Her doctor hated having to go back in again. He really wanted to do as little as possible to get the job done. That is one of the reasons I love him and Scottish Rite. Dr. Sucato genuinely felt bad and lost sleep over Talia. He did not want to put long rods or a cross bar in her back when he felt he could get the same outcome with smaller rods.
We have all discussed why the 1st rods slipped and we all believe it was a number of different things. We also believe that there was nothing we could have done about it. Talia is continuing to do well and that is the most important. We will go in for a check up on the 25th of November, just to make sure there is no movement of the new rods. We don't expect there to be at all.
Our check up appointment will also give us a better idea of what Talia will be allowed to do. At this point she is in a walking cast that comes over her shoulders. The doctors will decide if she can start being moved around more or if she will need more restrictions. We will also discuss the possibility of Talia going back to school for a couple of hours a day. We are fairly positive that 12 weeks in her new cast will be mandatory, but we will ask if a shorter term is possible.
So, for now, we wait. This check up appointment will give us lots of answers, but until then Talia is housebound. Please continue your prayers.
