Rey and I are so extremely happy to announce our son, Liam, has been officially matched with us. We are parents to three!!!
Our agency called yesterday evening to let us know that the other family interested had declined to pursue. We are the pictured little guy's parents!
A little background, our agency uses American names as IDs for waiting children. This guy's ID was Caleb. His given name is Jeong-wu. We will be naming him Liam Yong-Sun, after Rey's mother (Yong Sun).
Now that we are matched we will be waiting (at least a year, at most 18 months) for the Korean government to approve all the necessary paperwork before we can travel. We know this is going to be a tough time, but we are committed to finding ways to help it go by faster. Right now we are focusing on finishing up the last bits of paperwork we need to. Then it will be on to decorating and buying necessities we will need with a toddler again in the house.
With our match, we must now also focus on the financing of the adoption. This is more than a bit stressful for us. We have never felt so humble as to ask others for money to grow our family. Our hope is now that we have a face to welcome home it will make asking for donations a little easier. We have a set goal, a person across the globe depending on us to come and get him.
