Garbage Disposal Won

Well our experience in home repair is over. We spent 5 and a half hours on, what should have been, a 30 minute project. We thought we had all we needed. NOPE!!! We had pliers/wrenches that were too small, had to go back to hardware store for correct size. Had the oldest disposal possible, it was in bad shape, no wonder in went kaput! Took everything apart after turning off breaker (which also housed the refridgerator), found out we had a broken pipe washer. Went on another trip to store. Hubby took broken washer for reference, still came back with the wrong size. I ask "did you think the pipe would shrink?" Goes to the hardware store for the fourth time and finally comes back with the correct size washer. Takes all of 20 minutes to finish the job. Going back and forth to the hardware store cost more money than replacing the disposal. Add up all the time, gas and frustration. Hopefully we will do better next time.
